Turkish Maarif Foundation Launches New Academic Year in Niger

Since 2017, Turkish Maarif Foundation has been expanding access to quality education in Niger through its 3 campuses and 12 schools, continuing to reach a growing number of students each year. In addition to contributing to students’ academic development, the Foundation plays a significant role in strengthening the friendship between the two countries. The new academic year also marks the launch of a new educational level within the institution.

The opening ceremony of the 2025–2026 academic year was held at the Niger-Türkiye Friendship Schools Central Campus, with the participation of Dr. Zeynep Arkan, Member of the Board of Trustees of Turkish Maarif Foundation, and Özgür Çınar, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Niamey. As part of the ceremony, the preschool level, which has newly started operating this year, was officially inaugurated. Dr. Arkan, Ambassador Çınar and the accompanying delegation visited the Mevlana Campus, Franco-Arab Campus and the Central Campus of the Foundation, met with teachers and students, and received information about ongoing activities.


High-Level Meetings

Dr. Arkan and Ambassador Çınar met with Dr. Elisabeth Cherif, Minister of National Education, Literacy, Vocational Training and Promotion of National Languages of Niger, and Fatouma Soumana, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad. The meetings focused on further strengthening educational cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Zeynep Arkan expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Özgür Çınar for the strong support provided to the Foundation’s activities in Niger, emphasizing the crucial role the Embassy plays in enhancing diplomatic and social ties through education.
