September 20, 2024

This week's guest of the Maarif Talks organized by Turkish Maarif Foundation was Mr. Ali Karagöz, Director General of Vocational and Technical Education of the Ministry of National Education. In the program, Türkiye's international efforts in vocational and technical education and its vision in this field were discussed. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Emre Bilgili, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Turkish Maarif Foundation, members of the board of directors of the foundation and TMF staff.

In his presentation, Ali Karagöz touched upon the basic processes of vocational and technical education in Türkiye and stated that the understanding of vocational education, the foundations of which were laid in Anatolia in the 11th century with the Ahi tradition, continues today. He stated that this tradition is a guide for young people in their journey to acquire a profession. Karagöz emphasized that Türkiye aims to have a stronger vision in the international arena by developing this deep-rooted education model.

Focusing on the internationalization of vocational and technical education, Karagöz said, “On August 10, 2024, with the circular of our President, the Vocational and Technical Education Policy Document became the top policy document of our state. With this document, a roadmap was drawn for the steps to be taken in the field of vocational and technical education in Türkiye.” He added that this road map aims to share and disseminate the Turkish vocational education model with friendly and brotherly countries.

Karagöz, referring to the activities of Turkish Maarif Foundation in 54 countries, said: “Just as Turkish Maarif Foundation aims for the vision of the Turkish Century to be prominent and visible in all friendly and brotherly countries and wants to develop brotherhood, sharing our vocational and technical education model with friendly countries in the same way overlaps with the goal of the Turkish Century.”

The program ended with a question and answer session and the presentation of gifts.
