Colombian graduates of Türkiye, who received education in various fields in Türkiye and continued their careers in their countries after graduation, came together at the Turkish Maarif Foundation (TMF) Education Center in the capital Bogota.
Organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and hosted by TMF, the "Colombian Graduates of Türkiye Meeting" was attended by Beste Pehlivan Sun, Ambassador of Türkiye to Bogota, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Öner Buçukcu, TMF Representative in Colombia, and Colombian graduates who received education in Türkiye.
Colombia is one of the countries with the highest number of applicants for Türkiye Scholarships among Latin American countries.
According to YTB data, 2,916 Colombians have applied for scholarships since 2012.
In his statement, Ambassador Sun expressed his pleasure to come together with Colombians who graduated from Türkiye Scholarships.
Stating that he has been talking to some of the graduates since he started his ambassadorship in Colombia, Sun said, "I met some of them through this event and I was very happy. Türkiye Scholarships have a purpose beyond providing education."
Sun emphasized that Colombians should show more interest in Türkiye Scholarships, saying "The more applications, the more friends we will have in Türkiye." "This means new lovers of Türkiye. It made me very happy to hear the phrase 'Türkiye has become my second home' as expressed by students who love and know our country in distant geographies."
Sun thanked TMF Colombia Representative Buçukcu and the participants for organizing the event and said that they want to further strengthen the unity with the Colombian graduates of Türkiye.
