The books collected with the donations of Maarif Volunteers formed by the employees of Turkish Maarif Foundation were donated to a village middle school and a temporary accommodation (container) area library in the region together with Antakya Municipality. In Üzümdalı Village Şehit Metin Sürer Secondary School and Nur and Feyza Sönmez Library of the Temporary Accommodation Center in Güzelburç Neighborhood, donated books were delivered and different activities were held for students.
Sakine Suadiye Aba Reading House, which was established from a container in the garden of Üzümdalı Village Şehit Metin Sürer Secondary School, was opened in the name of Sakine Suadiye Aba, the teacher of the same school who was martyred in the earthquake on February 6, 2023, and continues its activities as a center that provides different reading activities for students in the region.
Turkish Maarif Foundation enriched the library of the reading center and provided more books and educational materials to the students. With the donation of books to the library by Maarif Volunteers, it aims to help children in the region gain reading habits and support their education.
During the events held on February 6-7, in-class activities with the theme of “Philosophy with Children” were organized for the students accompanied by Turkish Maarif Foundation's expert teachers. In addition to a violin music concert, a mini “violin workshop” was held one-on-one with the students. In addition, the activities were enriched with garden games. Turkish Maarif Foundation volunteers, Antakya Municipality Deputy Mayor Selahattin Öztürk, school Principal Meziyet Anlar Ezer and the school's teachers and students took part in this meaningful day.
In addition, Antakya Municipality donated reading books to the Support Education Course, as well as test books for exam preparation students.
On Saturday, February 8, books were donated to the Nur and Feyza Sönmez Library of the Temporary Accommodation Center in Güzelburç Neighborhood. The library was decorated with children and a music concert accompanied by violin. During the event, corporate gifts were presented and reading and play activities were organized with our expert teachers. Celal Uyanık, the Management Officer of the Container City, and the assistant teachers are devotedly working with the students to help them develop the habit of reading.
