Dear parents, during adolescence the first stop on the journey to adulthood—children go through many developmental processes and leave childhood behind. This period is a crucial process because it is a time of significant changes in both physical and psychosocial areas. In this issue, we have provided a detailed explanation of what you need to know about the adolescent process and how you, as parents, can communicate effectively with your children during this phase.

In this context, we first examined adolescence from the perspective of developmental processes. We discussed adolescent relationships in detail, highlighting how this is a period when adolescents reshape their social connections and form their identities. We also addressed the role of school, given the changes in their school lives where they spend most of their time. We also addressed potential issues that may arise during adolescence, how communication with adolescents should be approached, and provided practical recommendations for parents regarding this process. In the final section, as we do in every issue, we’ve prepared an activity you can do with your children and a question and answer corner.
